I admit it. I’ve been lazy.
But. Also. I have been working on this site - see, the end of my first year is coming up, and I’ve been thinking a lot about switching out design schemes a bit. And changing up my content a lot. Now that I’m writing for Reverse Shot on a semi-regular basis, I’m going to deemphasize reviews and critiques on this blog, and I’ll be writing a lot more about the creative process and my own life. To these ends, I’ll be making regular posts about Proud Flesh, I am Mariko Clemens (or whatever my title of the day is for that), and various other projects. I might even post up some excerpts from really embarrassing stuff I wrote in early high school(!).
Don’t get me wrong - I’ll still be posting about seeing movies, because that’s important to how I feel about making movies, but I’m not going to write about movies just to force up a bit of user-friendly content. Every time this year I’ve tried to follow a New York film series in-depth enough to chronicle it on my blog, I’ve not had the stamina or time to do so in any truly productive manner, so here’s what’s what: I’m only going to write about stuff that’s very important to me.
Which, I hope, does not mean a decline in the amount of content over the next year. Because a lot of stuff is important to me.
In the meantime, I’ll post a massive torrent of updates over the next few days to (at least in part) make up for my recent lack of content. What have I been doing instead of posting here?
a) Working on aforementioned redesign. Tell me if you guys like my going for a more monochromatic design - I want something cleaner and more professional looking, but I’m no Photoshop/web design wizard, and I’m loathe to give up the Academy leader motif, which is an idea I’m still fairly proud about.
b) Working on Proud Flesh. I’ll be posting about this one coming right up.
c) Reading! I’ll also be posting about what I’ve been reading lately.
d) Fretting. Well, this isn’t good. But it also concerns my employment, and I know what happens when bloggers talk about their jobs. (They get married?) So I’m not going to post about it here. Nosirree.
Anyway, another post to tell you all that I haven’t fallen off a bread truck.
