Okay, so I know this is really old news, but watching an old Project Runway episode (how could Robert even begin to think that looked like something Jackie O would wear?) forced me to come to grips with this for the first time. Now, you may know that I’m probably the most vocal detractor of latter-day ‘avant-electro’ (gag) Of Montreal out there, so much a fan I was of their goofy hyper-twee children’s songs of yore, but really, I never encounted something quite as embarrassing as a band reworking one of their songs (specifically “Wraith Pinned to the Mast and Other Games”) to sell shitty overpriced yuppie food in a commercial featuring stomach-churning close-ups of faux-Australian gut-bombs like a Bloomin’ Onion. It’s on YouTube here if you aren’t aware of it, but oh man, I’m just dying of a severe case of lolz here.

That commercial is ridiculous. However, I wouldn’t consider Outback a place for overpriced yuppie food - more like the dining establishment of choice for white trash out on the town.

I wouldn’t say ‘white trash’ exactly. Perhaps red-state petit-bourgeois.

red-state petit bourgeois is perfect - its’ the functional equivalent of ‘yuppie’ in texas
